The Pino Realty Group Tips

"REAL ESTATE FOR EVERY PHASE OF YOUR LIFE"

  • Inspect the Exterior of your home around windows, doors et for mouse droppings (looks like black rice). This may give you an indication of where they frequent and may be trying to get in.
  • Repair any holes or gaps in siding, around piping, and weather stripping. Mesh, cement, caulk, or a combination work well for repairs and to keep mice out.
  • Trim trees and bushes within 2 feet of the siding or roof. Mice can jump horizontally as far as 15 inches.
  • Don't leave open food or garbage in the garage for a "mouse buffet", including bird seed, dog food etc.
  • Store firewood and compost piles at least 20 feet away from the house.
  • Adopt a cat. They may help keep them away, but some cats are scared of mice and some just like to play with them.
